I
thought I would share a card that I made last year. I decided I wanted to find a way to combine my painting with my card making. This is what I came up with. The yellow rose and leaves were painted in acrylic on white cardstock and then cut out. The background of the front of the criss-cross card has been embossed using my cuttlebug machine. I added color to the embossing with Colorbox chalk inks. The rose and leaves were added to the card using pop dots to provide some dimension to the card. To complete the card I used a decorative punch to create a lace effect on the white cardstock used for the insert.
Here is another photo that shows both the card and the white
insert. I stamped the Happy Birthday and flower image low enough on the white cardstock so that it is not visible when the insert is inside the criss-cross card, but still provides enough room to write a message.
In the end I was happy with the finished card and the way that it all came together. I am looking forward to experimenting more in the future on ways to combine my two favorite creative outlets.
Until next time, have a great day.
